A portion of planning that requires all the primping and pampering you deserve. As you’re planning your special day, don’t forget to consider some of the beauty rituals that can often be over looked!
Dream big baby: gather inspiration for your wedding and your look. Consider the bride’s dress style, the groom’s look and the overall feel for the day. Make it cohesive. Head to Pinterest or if you’re someone who likes physical copies, cut out magazine clippings!
When you’re budgeting for your wedding, don’t forget to consider the budget for beauty – this includes anyone wearing makeup / getting hair done the day of, pre-wedding pampering, etc. If you’re not prepared beforehand, you may be surprised at how it could add up! We like to overestimate and then hit under budget.
Here’s some things to consider below booking appointments for now:
Are you looking to get some alignment work done? If so, that will require an extended period of time. Or perhaps you’re looking for more immediate results, such as a teeth whitening session. Consider what you want and prioritize that months in advance.
Get a manicure / pedicure or DIY your nails 1-2 days before your wedding day.
Your skin is the largest organ in your body and definitely the most visible – take care of your skin and it’ll take care of you! If you have imperfections you’re looking to fix before your special day, make an appointment with your dermatologist 4-6 months before your wedding. This could include a new skincare regimen (as in don’t try that facial scrub you read about in Cosmo a week before your wedding). Consult an expert and your skin will thank you.
Something to consider also is the weeks, days leading up to your wedding, consider what you’re putting in your body and how it’ll affect your skin. If you’re eating greasy, salty foods, good chance it could show on your skin (also, show in your wedding photos).
Get your haircare done close to the date: i.e. root touch up, extensions, blow out….etc. Also, if anyone in your bridal party needs the same, make sure they do it around the same time as well!
Who’s doing your day-of beauty?
Looking for a local salon? Do you want to visit a salon that day or have a team come to you? Many salons offer bridal beauty while some also specialize in it. Don’t forget to book a trial hair and makeup run a couple months before your day. This allows you to know exactly what it’s going to look like (no uh-oh surprises the day of!).
Our friends at European Wax Center recommend you start waxing as early as possible to get your hair on the same growth cycle. If a guest has a trip or an event coming up (like your wedding!) they recommend starting 2-3 months before and plan to come in every 4 weeks. After the first visit it gets easier and faster because the hair is coming in finer and it’s all on the same growth cycle. Earlier is better, but if you have less time just remember that the first 24-48 hours you’ll be sensitive and red. Everyone’s reaction is different but there’s always some sensitivity. So if you got your bikini line done you wouldn’t want to get on a plane right after and have to sit for so many hours, and you definitely shouldn’t be getting in the ocean until at least 48 hours after your appt.

Looking for some color? We recommend doing a spray tan a few days before your wedding day. Again – trial runs are good and allows you to see how you look with a spray tan before it’s too late.
