When we got word that one our beloved consultants was engaged, we were SO ecstatic (that may even be an understatement!) We get to work with brides every day but when someone from our little family gets to be the bride, it makes our hearts warm and the whole team light up with excitement. Elizabeth, our Inventory Manager + Bridal Consultant of 4+ years, said “yes” to her fiance Lewis at the end of 2016 and has been in full planning mode since (including dress shopping!)
We thought it’d be fun to showcase her exciting journey with you all — and like every great story, we’re going to start with sharing the beautiful beginning of theirs.
As regulars at the same local bar, Elizabeth and Lewis had been making eyes for years… except the timing never seemed to be the right — as these things often go. But fast forward to 2013 where Father Time happened to be on both their sides and voila… the rest is history 🙂 Today, they love to travel together and see shows at local joints like Hopmonk Sebastopol and Mystic Theater in Petaluma.
Ok but what about their proposal? Elizabeth spilled about her semi-agonizing year waiting for that question to be popped. Now Elizabeth knew it was going to happen, but the question is always when will it happen. As they headed to their ultra romantic getaway to Paris in the summer (perfect, right?), she thought this was it, this was going to be the moment. But they returned, and she was sans-engagement ring. With another darling trip planned to Disneyland in the winter, she was SURE this was the time. Granted, there were also plenty of other perfect moments between these trips! But nonetheless they arrive to literally the happiest place on Earth and as their days in their favorite theme park dwindled to their last night, Elizabeth was ready to give up on her dream of that picture perfect, love-story worthy proposal.
But of course… Lewis finished the trip strong and proposed on their last night in Disneyland and entirely surprised Elizabeth. We asked her on her feelings about the proposal:
“I was expecting it for months but at that very moment, it was entirely unexpected and turned out to be perfect. He was crying, I was crying, my fake eyelashes were coming off, but it was just perfect for us!”
Long story short: Sometimes the best moments can’t be planned. Sometimes what you think you want isn’t actually what you needed. In the end, you’ll find that regardless the place or the time, in that moment the love of your life is about to be yours forever and we think that’s pretty darn special.
But no doubt, a Disneyland proposal is still SO cute 🙂
